Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for playing Tom Loftis in Widow’s Bay.

Earlier in the same ceremony, he won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for playing Nile Jarvis in Netflix’s The Beast in Me.

Those two victories made Rhys the first performer to win two lead acting Emmys in the same year.

His achievement went further because of his previous Emmy victory.

Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for The Americans in 2018. His 2026 victories for The Beast in Me and Widow’s Bay therefore gave him lead acting Emmy wins in drama, limited series and comedy.

The Television Academy identifies him as the first person to accomplish that combination.
